Let’s kick off Supernatural Tuesdays with the Witching Hour…
The witching hour, somebody had once whispered to her, was a special moment in the middle of the night when every child and every grown-up was in a deep deep sleep, and all the dark things came out from hiding and had the world all to themselves.– Roald Dahl
The witching hour… that time between 3-4am where the veil between our world and the paranormal is thin.
This myth, come from the the time of the house of Hanover in 1835, when the church would say prayers, every hour except between 3-4am.
Therefore, Demons, Ghost and spirits are at their strongest power, because there was no church prayers to ‘push’ back at the paranormal force.
Women caught out of their houses between 3-4 were thought to be witches and were therefore executed, often without a trial. Hence ‘witching hour’
Some literature also suggests that the times between 2 and 4 am, are most likely for ghostly apparitions, to be witnessed.
Also, some myths believe that at the single hour of the day, is ‘bad luck’ and is unlucky for monetary transactions and new ventures.
Personally, I wake up a lot between this time, and for me it is bad luck. Every morning, my neighbour goes to work and makes a lot of noise when leaving, and of course this wakes me up..
Witches, ghost and demons, are an intriguing idea. The idea of witches for the 21st century is far different from the witch trials time. People are much more open to admitting they are witches, (probably because they won’t be executed) and it’s a far more personal self care journey. I use tarot cards, but I do it mainly to expand my creativity, and to spark positive thoughts for the day.
Ghosts : I would personally love to see one- even if I would probably scream and bolt from the room.
Things that go bump in the night fascinate me. (Who would’ve guessed)
