Her deadly dreams leave her in grave danger
Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they’ve fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it’s time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She’s having visions of a vampire named Gregor who’s more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn’t know about.
Gregor believes Cat is his and he won’t stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor’s hold over her. She’ll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she’s ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave
This was a difficult read for me. Cat & Bones have become one of my favorite Ships from any novel I read.
There is a lot of conflict between Cat and Bones, due to this prick Gregor (ugh- even his name sucks) These two characters have ripped my heart out several times in the previous book, but there are certain scenes that I almost thought I needed to bail.
“Why do these crazy vampires keep trying to collect me?”
I should have trusted Jeaniene Frost to be an awesome storyteller because this book was Frightfully astonishing.
There was so much tension (not the sexual kind) that it blew me away. The hostility was dank at times, and it felt really grim. But Bones, oh my love for him grew.
“Movies. Drinks. Headless chickens. You know, girl stuff. ”
There’s even a Voodoo Queen of New Orleans, Dracula, Astral Projection, & buried memories that just won’t stay there.
“I wish people would just leave us alone,” I said. “You remember when it was just the two of us in a big dark cave? Who knew that would be the most uncomplicated time of our lives?”
