“Pity is an emotion that can get you killed. The only thing more dangerous is blind hate, and maybe love.”

Anita is an animator, she brings the dead back to life, even for a brief moment.  She also Kills the not so friendly neighbourhood vampires when they get a bit out of hand.

Only now, something is killing the Vampire’s and Anita has been called in to help then find the Killer of the dead.

with the help of Old, and new friends, Anita will need to fight whatever a 1000-year-old Master Vamp will throw at her.

“Important safety tip – never look a vampire in the eye.”

I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while now, but the series is on, book 26, so it’s a commitment.

I liked Anita. Often when a series is around just one character I can imagine it’ll get a bit tedious, but already she has so many layers I actually think I am going to love the series.

In some ways the series reminded me of TrueBlood/Southern Vampire Mysteries. Vamps out of the coffin, were-animals, bad case of religion.. etc, but Anita has much more dept.

Overall the writing is quick paced and whilst a lot is inner monologue, it perfectly describes Anita’s World.

Other characters; I loved Phillip. He was vulnerable in places like a child addicted to candy. I wanted to cuddle his big muscles.

I’ve heard Jean-Claude is a big thing in the rest of the series, but he mostly in a coffin for this one, but I am looking forward to the character development.

Such an interesting introduction to a world I know I am going to love. I cannot wait to get my teeth sunk into the rest of this series..

I Don’t date Vampires. I kill them.

Ides of March: Et tu Brute?

Today is the Ides of March. In the Roman calendar, it was a religious time, given that March was considered the roman New year. However, it became more famouse for the death of the republic of Rome.

2062 years ago Julius Caesar was stabbed in the back. 23 Times, by those he thought were friends, and colleges. His wife and his doctor warned him not to visit the senate house on the Ides, but Caesar felt he was untouchable.. a kings weakness, no.

But Should we feel sorry for him?

Well, no.. Maybe

You see, Rome at the time prided itself on the idea that their justice system of senators and consuls was just, and Ceaser declared himself: Pontifex Maximus. Tyranny at its finest.

People felt that Laurel Wreath was starting to look way too much like a crown.. and people got a little stabby..

They got rid of the Problem?

Nope. Julius Caesar’s Heir Octavian, his nephew, fought and won the ‘throne’ of Rome becoming the first Emperor Augustus… and thus Rome becomes an Empire… with one ruler. For hundred of years, Rome bent to the wims of a sole ruler. Men who were flawed, degrading, violet psychopaths.

by the way Et Tu Brute.. totally made up by Shakespeare

What is a Bookstagram?

It’s an Instagram account that is solely to show passion for books, using lights, props, candles etc

I’ve learned a lot over the past few months, about how to join this fabulous community. I’ve rounded up a few essential tips you need to know..

#Bookstagram_.png

  1. Light–> Probably one of the most important things about posting the photo. Natural light is best. So try and take your photos in a light room or on a window sill.
  2. Props –> use anything!! They don’t need to cost the earth. Pick up teacups in a charity shop, buy fake flowers, find pine cones, leaves from the forest floor.. etc
  3. Hashtags –> these are awesome ways to be connected to Instagram. my favourites are #Bookstagram, #bookchallenge & #bookphoto.
  4. Book Challenges –>  These are set by other Bookstagrammers, who post a prompt for each day of the month. for example; Book & Mug, OTP, starts with, YA fantasy etc..

So now that I’ve given you a few tips, I would love to see your pictures. my Instagram account is @Literary_Romance.. Follow me and I will ALWAYS follow back..

NaNoWriMo 2017: Novel Reveal

IMG_3957

This is my first year at NaNoWriMo 2017. I’ve been writing the beginning of novels for a few years, but I am the first to admit, I need to kick my butt into gear..

My novel at the moment is called ‘Just you and Me’

It’s about James, who made a mistake whilst trying to take out the competition to the girl he loves. In his desperation, he tries to mend bridges and hide secrets.

Ally, the girl he loves, is struggling at school. Her best friend Daniel has been acting stranger than usual, and school doesn’t seem that easy anymore. She no longer has a clue what she wants in life.. then Daniel’s bully.. the boy who seemed so angry and alive.. now seems to be dying inside.

What is going on?
