What – did you think all vamps were pale, thin and brooding? Don’t I wish.

Gloriana St. Clair is an eternally “full-figured” vampire-she just happened to be bloating when a sexy Scotsman sank his teeth into her. She and said Scot- Angus Jeremiah Campbell III, aka Jeremy Blade-have been on and off again for centuries, currently off. A couple hundred years has taught them how to press each other’s buttons-in good ways and bad.

Glory’s headed for Austin and a new business venture: Vintage Vamp’s Emporium. After all, she loves clothes, and she is an antique. Only problem is, there’s a billionaire techno-freak vampire hunter on the loose. Blade’s in total he- vampire mode, and wants Glory to move in with him so he can “protect” her. But it’s time for this vamp to explore her own powers.

Whilst there are a lot of plus size heroines in novels now, back when this was published in 2007 this was rare. REALLY rare.

Additional to that Glory is a really flawed Heroine. She has a gambling problem, a shopping problem, and men problem (s).

I loved this about her. I am a plus sized girl (and proud!) And it was so refreshing to read about a Vampire whose a big girl.

“Vampires are everywhere. Lose all-vampires-are-rich-and-powerful stereotypes. Think Mike the night Clerk at the mini-mart. Brittany, the barmaid who brings you Appletini at last call”

Like the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries there’s a new blood substitute, and whilst the vampires won’t be coming out of the coffin, most vampires in this series drink it.

Even still a Hunter is after them, and he likes to play with technology and create new things to detect them, which was refreshing.

This series is far more light-hearted than some vampire novels, and I could relate to Glory more than most paranormal heroines.

Glory is put down by many of cast, but she has a heart of gold, and i adored her relationship with her talking dog.. if only my dog talked.

She was constantly trying to change and reinvent herself, and get the feeling that Glory will have such a journey of self within these novels and I cant wait to continue on her path.

Elena Michael’s is the only female werewolf in the world. Her past has been filled with anger and violence, and for once Elena just wants to be human again.

After moving away from her pack, Elena is forced back to help hunt and kill rogue Werewolves who are challenging pack authority.

“Are you the welcoming committee? Or has Jeremy finally chained you up to the front gate where you belong?”
“I missed you too.”

This book was recommended to me by a friend some years ago, and it is Dreadfully good!! Elena is such a complex character. On the one hand, she is the mate of Clay, and she is desperately still in love with him, but he betrayed her by turning her into a werewolf. Her wolf once around her pack feels at home, but her human side is better away from the pack. She is capable of incredible anger but hates that about herself. She also Hates Clay about that too.

She is the strongest Tracker of her kind, and also the only female, a myth amongst her kind. She tracks rogue werewolves, and then mostly kills them. or warns them. Pack law is harsh.

“The truth is, if a werewolf behaved like this psychopath it wouldn’t be because he was part animal, but because he was still too human. Only humans kill for sport.”

Now Clay. oooo yummy. He’s pure crazy, killer, but he has a huge love for Elena. He’s much different from other Hero/Alpha male types that you see in Most Paranormal Romances. He’s a Killer, and he’s okay with that. He does what his pack leader/adopted father needs, whatever it takes.

“You forget, darling.
am the local psychopath.”

Armstrong packs a powerful first book punch. Her story world is filled with loss, anger, death, blood, love, and family.

It’s also less mystical than the rest. It’s gritty enough that it’s not that unbelievable. The way she describes the transformation from humans to wolf is descriptive and ugly, not at all the sexy that you get used to in most Paranormal Romances.

Recommended to —>

If you like to read Crime novels, I recommend this to you 100% because, other than the odd change, it has all the mystery, violence and suspense of a good Crime novel.

“Spend too much time around these guys and you become a little too nonchalent about blood-soaked clothes and bodies in the trunk”

He watches her from across the crowded dance club, a sensual black-haired stranger who stirs Gabrielle Maxwell’s deepest fantasies. But nothing about this night—or this man—is what it seems.

For when Gabrielle witnesses a murder outside the club, reality shifts into something dark and deadly. In that shattering instant she is thrust into a realm she never knew existed—a realm where vampires stalk the shadows and a blood war is set to ignite.

Here, in the arms of the Breed’s formidable leader, Gabrielle will confront an extraordinary destiny of danger, seduction, and the darkest pleasures of all. . .

Review

You just promised me eternity, you know. I can make you live to regret it.

If you follow my reviews you’ll know I LOVE Vampire Novels. Midnight Breed is like Black Dagger Brotherhood series in that they are a band of vampires hunting bad guys. They are slightly tortured brooding hero’s.

The Heroine

Gabrielle is unlike most heroines. She’s shy, but she’s not a push over. She prefers her own company, and is quite introverted.

I love it when I can relate to the heroines in the stories.

The Hero

Lucan is like all leaders. He’s tough and sacrificing, and very warrior like.

There was definitely insta-lust between them, but it slowly built up to a real connection.

I felt the ‘Breedmate’ solution was really great. The idea of the birthmark and hidden talents to assist the warriors was super clever, and unlike what I’ve read in other Paranormal Romance.

Maybe she should cut the guy a little slack, […] Maybe Thorne had been a no-show because something bad happened to him on the job.

What if he’d been injured in the line of duty and didn’t come by as promised because he was incapacitated in some way? Maybe he hadn’t called to apologize or to explain his absence because he physically couldn’t.
Right. And maybe she had checked her brain into her panties from the second she first laid eyes on the man.

But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat

Review

Every now and there a book comes along to solidify my love of Paranormal Romance.

This is it. And it’s just the beginning of a marvelous series of books.

Whenever I re-read HTTG, I have a huge killer watt smile on my face.

The dialogue between Cat and the cast of characters is funny and clever and never boring.

Lucifer’s bouncing balls, Kitten, not again!

Cat and Bones interaction is stunning. Cat is incredibly stubbon huntress and kills any vampire that she finds. Spurned on by a horrendous mother her ignorence about Vampires is slowly changing, influenced by Bones.

Bones basically fills the gap that Spike from Buffy had. Bleach blonde hair, British and very naughty. Plus he’s a vampire.

Cat was promised by Bones to find her Vampire father, if she helps him hunt the worst Vampires.

There is only one way to fight, and that’s dirty. Clean gentlemanly fighting will get you nowhere but dead, and fast. Take every cheap shot, every low blow, absolutely kick people when they’re down, and maybe you’ll be the one who walks away.

Overall, I love this series and I am re-reading the books and will be posting review in the next few weeks..

PS these books are the reasons I write and blog.

Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a bit of a wicked streak. She has spent years keeping everyone at a distance—even her closest friends—and it seems as if her senior year is going to be more of the same . . . until Luc Cain enrols in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can’t seem to stay away from him.

What she doesn’t know is that Luc is on a mission. He’s been sent from Hell itself to claim Frannie’s soul. It should be easy—all he has to do is get her to sin, and Luc is as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn’t stand a chance. But he has to work fast because if the infernals are after her, the celestials can’t be far behind. And sure enough, it’s not long before the angel Gabriel shows up, willing to do anything to keep Luc from getting what he came for. It isn’t long before they find themselves fighting for more than just Frannie’s soul.
But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay . . . for all of them
Review:
Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers, is a story about Frannie, who is your typical high school student. Then two mysterious ( and gorgeous ) boys turn up at her school, Luc and Gabe. Each begins to vie for her affections, and both have an effect on her emotions. however its more than her affections they both want.. it’s her soul. Luc is a demon sent by the devil, and Gabe is an angel sent by God. There actions and feelings dictate Frannie and her choice he must make.

“But his eyes say what he can’t. I see it, clear as day, even if she doesn’t. He’d give up his wings for her. All she’d have to do is ask.”

There was a little love triangle going on, which was well done but not always my thing. however, the whole book wasn’t completely focused on this. I loved the descriptions that Desrochers gave of hell and like the reference to the smells of each emotion.

An entertaining read, with some great scenes and a lot of humour. Would definitely recommend

“You have cable?” He nodded toward her TV.
She tossed him the clicker. “Sure do. And if I remember, there’s a Godzilla marathon on TBS tonight.”
“Sweet,” the vampire said, kicking his legs out. “I always root for the monster.”
She smiled at him. “Me, too.”

The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.

♡★♡★♡★♡★♡

This book has over 11,000 reviews on Goodreads, and the average rating is 4.21 out of 5. That’s pretty high!!

The book is a start of a new original vampire take. The vampires are alpha males, each with a dark past and an even darker wardrobe. They kill and fight Lessers- Creepy white-haired guys who smell of baby powder. They also don’t feed off humans, they feed off other vampire’s.

Let’s start with Wrath, JR Ward has a knack for creating Dark Brooding types, and this Blind King, is just the start for this series. He is moody, got a dark past, and of course going blind. He hasn’t stepped up and become king yet, through fear of failure and a drive to find those responsible for his parent’s death.

Beth is a half vampire although at the beginning she does not know this. Her father, friend of the King has just died and Wrath is looking to protect her.  Beth is kind, but she’s also not a walk over.

“Wrath dragged Beth into his arms and hugged her hard, talking in that other language again. When he pulled back, he ended the monologue with something like leelan.
Beth: “Is that vampire talk for bitch?”

JR Ward explains the world very well, between hellren, Shellen, Lessers, Omega and Scribe Virgin, JR ward delivers an awesome brutal world, filled with passion, blood, and action.

Ashling’s first job as a courier for her uncle was to deliver an artefact. Upon delivery, she finds her customer dead and a very sexy Dragon who claims that she is his mate.

Ashling becomes the murder suspect, so to clear her name she must find out who really killed her customer. It becomes clear that her job as a courier is over when she realises she is, in fact, a Guardian to the gates of hell.

So to help her she summons a Demon, in the shape of a faithful Newfoundland, and gets herself a driver, and goes on an adventure that will save the otherworld…

Day 10

I’ve only previously read one of Katie MacAlister’s book from her ‘Dark Ones’ series and I loved it. Her comedy has perfect timing and she has a knack to write great, sassy heroine’s.

Throughout the book, MacAlister introduces several really strong characters which really build up the world which is full of mages, witches, dragons, demons, imps, doppelgangers, Demon Lords.. etc

I thought the world was very well introduced, it was overwhelming, and it was explained in a way that didn’t befuddle the reader.

I loved this book so much from about chapter 3 that I bought the entire series to read.

REVIEW:

For me, this is the quintessential Vampire Romance. It has everything that a good vampire novel should have.

After the wake of such Vampire pop culture as Buffy and Twilight, vampires tend to have a soul. They fill pages and pages feeling guilty about what they’ve done and they brood! – A lot! Which is fine.. for a while. Then you get a book like this with a character like William and it changes things. When I read this it was shortly after I had read Twilight, and William was my introduction to a more naughtier Vampire. Okay, sure at some point William is not happy to condemn her soul.. yadda, yadda.. But I am glad to see that about 4 paragraphs into it; he don’t care!! To say the least, it was refreshing for me.

This book also kicked off for me my true love for Paranormal Romance, so for this I am eternally grateful (get it!!) This was also the first Cynthia Eden book that I read and have been hooked ever since.

This book had the right mix of romance and action and was very sweet, but hot at the same time, and I Loved it!!

I no longer fear the darkness.

With the release of A Court of Frost and Starlight within the next 24 hours, I thought I’d post my final thoughts on the previous book, ACOWAR.

I was super excited about this book. I even booked the day off work when it was released. With the cliffhanger from ACOMF, I wanted answers…

“A Shadow slammed into the eath before us, cracking the ice toward every horizon.
Not a shadow.
A Illyrian warrior. ”

From that point on I couldn’t stop smiling, and then when Rhysand came back on the page, I SQUEALED… Needless to say, the neighbourhood dogs started barking.

He leaned down, nuzzling my throat. “Don’t you want to comfort your mate, who has missed you terribly these weeks?”

In the previous books, War has been brewing between the King of Hybern, and the rest of Prythian. The Inner Circle are reunited, and it’s fabulous!! I love the way SJM has written the friendship; it is stunning.

Only you can decide what breaks you

Tamlin the tool is back, and earlier in the book, I felt nothing but anger to him, and by the end, I guess he made amends, a little.

The pace of the book was uneven but in a captivating way. the scenes of war were fast as expected, and the family comforting and almost warm.

“Night Triumphant- and the Stars Eternal.”

There was just no point in the book where it lulled for me. I never got bored, I never skipped pages, I just kept wanting more.

There are a few things I had wished that the SJM had answered, like relationships within the Inner Circle, her sister full gifts, and the outcome of other characters within the series, such as other High Lords.

I am sooooo pleased that there is a next book coming out, and maybe some answered.

In my opinion, these books are pure perfection, and SJM will have a fan for life…

“I was not a pet, not a doll, not an animal.
I was a survivor, and I was strong.
I would not be weak, or helpless again
I would not, could not be broken. Tamed.”

This Book is the best out of the trilogy. There’s a lot in this book, and I can’t say much with creating spoilers, which will simply not do.

That being said…
